Joanne Ambrogi

Joanne graduated from the University of Delaware in 1988 with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education with an Athletic Training emphasis and her Masters degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 from Neumann University. She has been practicing Swedish massage since 1996 when she completed her studies at the Owen’s Institute of Massage and Holistic Sciences in Wilmington, DE in 1996.
While at the University of Delaware Joanne competed in both Field Hockey and Lacrosse. Lacrosse became her passion, which led her to becoming a member of the United States National Women’s Lacrosse team. When she decided to hang up her stick in 1997, she continued to give back by coaching and becoming the PT/ATC for the US Women’s Lacrosse Developmental team. A member of Delaware Lacrosse Hall of Fame and passionate coach she spent over 10 years developing and coaching 5th and 6th grade girl’s lacrosse for Newark Youth Lacrosse (Silverbacks) and the Delaware Diamonds travel team. She has brought Lacrosse to the Czech Republic and South Africa with the hopes of helping Lacrosse become an Olympic Sport.
Joanne has spent the past 25 years working with athletes of all ages. She did both massage and athletic training with various professional teams (Philadelphia Kixx Soccer team, Philadelphia Rage Women’s professional team (ABL), Philadelphia Charge Women’s Soccer team (WUSA) to name a few. Locally she has worked as the Athletic Trainer for Salesianum High School (1993-1996) and was the Manager of Athletic Training Services for NovaCare Outpatient Physical Therapy, which enabled her to work in several schools/Colleges/Universities in the tri-state area.
In 2010 Joanne completed Empowered Yoga’s 200 and 500 hour yoga teacher training in 2012. She enjoys teaching Roots classes and recently became certified to teach Balanced Athlete. She has found her passion in teaching anatomy for Yoga teacher training programs here at Empowered Yoga, in Rehobeth at Dimitra Yoga and this year at Trepta Yoga in NJ.
Most recently she has decided to integrate her yoga, meditation, massage, athletic training and orthopedic physical therapy skills into patient care at the Helen Graham Cancer Center for Specialty Rehabilitation Inc. and with her own company Ambrogi Integrative Health Services, Inc. She believes in the mind body connection and is passionate about utilizing it in all aspects of her practice.
