One of the main purposes of massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. These techniques also work to stimulate circulation and increase muscle tone.
Joanne found the practice of yoga early in her athletic career. She felt the practice benefitted her performance because it assisted in the union of mind and body. It has become a primary element in her approach to evaluating and treating patients.
When combining bodywork and body awareness practices such as yoga, this multidisciplinary approach to wellness compliments and assists the body’s innate ability to heal and recover.
We use a variety of techniques such as classical Swedish Massage and trigger point/neuromuscular therapy. Prior to an athletic event, Sports Massage may be used with stretching in order to help you loosen, warm, and prepare their muscles for enhanced performance and endurance. Following an athletic event, Sports Massage may be used to relieve pain, prevent stiffness, and return your muscles back to their normal state. Sports Massage may also be used for injury rehabilitation.
